Scripture for Peace and Comfort – 3 Verses for Motherhood (Free Printable)
Amidst its many blessings, Motherhood is also filled with challenges. As a homeschool mom of 3, I’m far from immune to the anxious days or overwhelming moments. That’s why I wanted to start this new series, “Verses for Motherhood“. Today, we’ll look at scripture for peace and comfort.
Peace is such a common phrase. We’re all looking for peace in this chaotic life. But what does the Bible say about peace? Today, I’m sharing 3 verses of scripture that speak of peace. These verses of scripture for peace and comfort can be printed and hung up throughout your home to remind yourself and your family of what God tells us.
This week’s verses are Isaiah 9:6, Exodus 14:14, and Mark 4:39.
Isaiah 9:6
“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Exodus 14:14
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Mark 4:39
“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.”
Scripture for Peace and Comfort
In the free printable, you’ll receive one standard-sized sheet with each verse on peace. You’ll also receive a sheet with cards that can be cut out. These cards each have scripture for peace and comfort that you can hang on your fridge, pass out to your friends and family, or even mail to a long-distance loved one.
Isaiah 9:6
“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
So many Christians know this verse. We hear it time and time again around Christmas. But I urge you to really meditate on this verse and the greatness of it. This is one of those incredible prophesies of the Bible that prove the validity of Jesus.
Take your time to read the words that describe our God, our precious King.
Remember in your trials or chaos-filled days, He is our Prince of Peace.
God did not call you to a life of fear or chaos. Even in the midst of trials, He can and WILL be your Prince of Peace.
Exodus 14:14
“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
This verse is powerful and applicable all on its own, but I also highly urge you to read all of Exodus 14. The story of the Israelites fleeing Egypt is an incredible example of who our God is.
While this life may contain many battles, we MUST remember who is fighting for us. Not only is God fighting for us, but He has already won the war.
Jesus saved us eternally on the cross when He defeated death.
We can hold our peace knowing who fights for us and who has already won this war!
Mark 4:39
“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.”
Oh, this is just one of the best stories. I’ve actually grown to appreciate it even more since reading it to my children in their kids’ Bible during our homeschool time.
My daughter gets a kick out of Jesus sleeping in the boat. But I know, she’ll always remember it when the waves begin to rise around her boat. She’ll remember that Jesus is with her. And while it may seem like He’s sleeping – it’s only because He is fully in control.
We too can have peace, no matter how great the waves are around us. If Jesus is in our boat, He is in charge of the waves.
If He hasn’t calmed the waves around you, come to Him. Ask Him, “Why, Lord?” Maybe He has a great purpose in allowing the waves. Maybe it’s just not the time. But don’t think for one second He’s not in control. He can stop the waves with just a word. So if the waves continue, don’t panic. Trust that the Lord is in your boat, and has a plan greater than your own.
Have peace knowing He’s with YOU, and He IS in control of it all.
What is Our Verses for Motherhood Series?
I hope you’ve enjoyed digging into God’s Word with me. These verses of scripture for peace and comfort are a great place to start when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
If you’ve enjoyed this blog, stay tuned for more from this Verses for Motherhood Series. I started this new series as a homeschooling mom of 3 little ones who knows first-hand the challenges of motherhood.
It goes without saying that motherhood is one of the greatest blessings. But it certainly doesn’t come without its difficulties.
I truly don’t think I’d be half the mom I am without a right relationship with Jesus. Without consistent time in God’s Word, reading my bible (almost) daily, I’d be a chaotic mess.
But I also know, as a mom to littles, it’s not always easy to carve out large amounts of time to read the Bible. That’s why I wanted to create the free printable scripture cards that you can hang throughout your home.
Come to these verses of scripture for peace and comfort when you’re doing dishes. Come to them when you’re folding laundry. Hang them where you’ll see them in those hard moments of the day.
